Axiym accounts and funding

An Axiym account holds the funds used to make payments. It holds one currency and is connected to a payment rail, such as a banking or blockchain network.

Two different funding actions

Fund the Axiym account

Arrange funding so the account has an available balance. Account funding takes place outside the Payment API.

Fund the payment

Select the funded account for the payment. sourceAmount is reserved from its available balance when you authorize the payment for processing and debited when the payment settles.

Using an Axiym account to fund a payment

The selected account determines:

which balance funds the payment;
the funding currency; and
where the payment amount and applicable fee are debited.

Listing an account does not establish payout eligibility. At confirmation, the account must be active, enabled for payouts, and sufficiently funded. When you authorize the payment for processing, Axiym reserves sourceAmount, preventing that amount from funding another payment.

If the available balance cannot cover sourceAmount, confirmation returns 422 and leaves the payout in PENDING_CONFIRMATION with no funds reserved. You can fund the account and confirm the payout while its terms remain valid.

The Payment API does not automatically deposit or pull funds from an external account to cover a shortfall.

The reservation remains in place during compliance review. At settlement, it becomes the account debit. If the payment ends before settlement, Axiym releases the reservation back to the account's available balance.

Balance movements

Funding the Axiym account creates a credit when funds are posted to the account. A reservation reduces the available balance but does not yet create the final debit. Settlement creates the debit for the payment amount and fee. Credits and settled debits appear in the account statement.

Use the payout as the business view of the operation and the statement entry as the ledger view of the balance change.

The statement reconciles as follows:

opening balance + total credited - total debited = closing balance

Axiym account status

Status	Meaning
`ACTIVE`	Available for permitted operations.
`SUSPENDED`	Temporarily restricted.
`CLOSED`	Permanently retired.

Having an active Axiym account does not mean every payout destination is available. Use corridors to discover the routes enabled for the authenticated integration.
